Tomato breeding and genetics including; disease
and insect resistance, tolerance to genetic disorders, heat-tolerant
fruit setting, genetic and environmental effects of fruit flavor and
color, development of high lycopene germplasm.
Dr. Scott's very productive tomato breeding program for 2008
included two published refereed papers, one book (edited), one book
chapter, seven non-refereed papers, and was co-author on one EDIS
paper. Secured grants and SHARE donations were in the amount of
$293,700. He is also working on the second year of a NRI project
($399,000). Dr. Scott currently chairs one Ph.D. student and is the
member of four M.S. student's committees.
